Hi
The SQL Server Online documentation referes to the Query Designer (Visual Database tools).
How can I start the Query Designer and the other Visual Database tools?
Regards
Michael
Have you installed the client tools available with the installation. if yes
then to invoke Query Analyzer type "isqlw" from the run prompt. If you
recieve an error, just install the client tools for SQL Server.

I'm able to run Query Analyser and Enterprise Manager.
But I don't know how to start the Query Designer (Visual Database tools) which is a different tool.
Thanks

Query Builder Tool
Hello -- does anyone know of any good tools to create queries for SQL
Server? I'm currently using Query Analzyer, but would like something a bit
more QUI oriented similar to what Access has -- where I can insert tables
and drag columns, etc.
Any help would be appreciated.
Hello DavidM.
You can use Enterprise Manager for an interface very similar to Access.
Click the tables node to get a listing of all the tables in the right pane.
Select a table and right click. Select open table from the pop up menu.
Select Query. You should now see an interface like Access that you can use to
design queries.

Query analyzer...
I was wondering if there is any way I can find/make an install of ONLY
the client tools (isqlw, etc.) so that I don't have to pass out the
Server install CD all the time? Or maybe just grab all the files needed
and know where to put them...
Our programmers insist on installing that for everyone and their dog so
I'd like to just put it somewhere on the network or on a CD so it can be
accessible easily.
TIA!!
Follow the directions within SQLCLI.BAT on the install disk, and check the
SQLCLI.ISS file for info on what gets installed.

start /wait x86\setup\setupsql.exe -s -m -SMS -f1 "sqlcli.iss"
That's what the batch file installs for unattended client tools installs.

lists the requriments for the process to complete. Sorry about that, I
didn't mean to indicate the ISS file would list the files needed. That's
handled by the installer.

|||That's not going to list what files are required to do an install - that
lists the requriments for the process to complete. Sorry about that, I
didn't mean to indicate the ISS file would list the files needed. That's
handled by the installer.

I was wondering if there is any way I can find/make an install of ONLY

Our programmers insist on installing that for everyone and their dog so

the client tools (isqlw, etc.) so that I don't have to pass out the
Server install CD all the time? Or maybe just grab all the files needed
and know where to put them...
Our programmers insist on installing that for everyone and their dog so
I'd like to just put it somewhere on the network or on a CD so it can be
accessible easily.
TIA!!Follow the directions within SQLCLI.BAT on the install disk, and check the
SQLCLI.ISS file for info on what gets installed.

That's what the batch file installs for unattended client tools installs.

TIA!!Follow the directions within SQLCLI.BAT on the install disk, and check the
SQLCLI.ISS file for info on what gets installed.

start /wait x86\setup\setupsql.exe -s -m -SMS -f1 "sqlcli.iss"
That's what the batch file installs for unattended client tools installs.
